The Bolwell E-Cycle Company generously provided a prize for the highest fundraiser. Each rider collected sponsors from their friends and family for their ride. $10,953.80 was raised for child cancer research.
100% of money raised by SBAR goes to Childrens Cancer Institute Australia. None of the money raised was spent on the event itself.
The reward for the rider who collected the most sponsorship was an S7, shaft driven bicycle, the ultimate in cycling technology and the first of it's kind in Australia. It has no chain!
The prize bike was ridden by SBAR Model, Ms Rosa Lopez, who accompanied me at the head of the parade. Ms Lopez is one of those "can do" kind of people, she has jumped out of aeroplanes, travelled the world, and is also a single Mum working full time to support her kids. Rosa is one of the most brave and caring people I know. At the moment she is learning sign language!
Naturally everyone wanted to test out the S7 while Rosa was being painted. All the riders who got a chance to try the new bike gave it the thumbs up.
